The Federal Rural University of the Semi-Arid Region (UFERSA) has launched an internal selection process for a Short-Term Training Abroad scholarship under the CAPES Global.edu Programme. The initiative is part of Integra Brasil, an internationalisation network coordinated by the University of São Paulo (USP).
The internal call will select one UFERSA master’s student for a one-month, in-person academic training programme at a foreign institution, beginning in March or September 2027.
The scholarship is specifically intended for students enrolled in one of the graduate programmes participating in Integra Brasil:
- Graduate Programme in Business Administration at UFERSA;
- Graduate Programme in Computer Science, jointly offered by UERN and UFERSA; or
- Graduate Programme in Electrical Engineering at UFERSA.
It is therefore an internal institutional action and is not open to applications from students or researchers outside the participating graduate programmes.
The proposed training must be aligned with one of the Network’s strategic areas:
- Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, through the INTEGRADM Academic Mobility Plan; or
- Technology and Innovation for Sustainable Development, through the INOVATECH Academic Mobility Plan.
The initiative may support courses, scientific, technical or pedagogical training, short schools, summer or winter schools, and other structured in-person activities. Its central purpose is to help master’s students develop new technical, scientific, methodological and academic competencies while strengthening the international engagement of UFERSA’s graduate programmes.
The selection process also incorporates an affirmative-action mechanism for groups historically underrepresented in graduate education and international academic mobility, reinforcing the Network’s commitment to equity and inclusion.
The scholarship is funded by CAPES and includes the benefits established for the Short-Term Training Abroad programme. Following the international experience, the selected student will share the knowledge and skills acquired with the UFERSA academic community, including through participation as a speaker in the University’s Academic Week.
Through this initiative, UFERSA seeks to expand international learning opportunities for its students, reduce inequalities in access to academic mobility, foster connections with institutions abroad and generate lasting benefits for its graduate programmes and research community.
