WHAT IS CAPES GLOBAL.EDU?

Internationalisation through cooperation, not isolation.

CAPES Global.edu is the institutional internationalisation programme of CAPES, the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education. Created in 2025, it supports thematic networks formed by Brazilian higher education and research institutions at different stages of internationalisation.

Its purpose is to strengthen Brazil’s international scientific role while encouraging mutual cooperation, intercultural dialogue and sustainable development. The programme connects national institutions to one another and to international partners, creating a platform for research, advanced training and institutional learning.

HOW IT WORKS

A network model for shared progress

Each thematic network combines complementary expertise, regional diversity and international partnerships in a multi-year strategy.

01

Network-based cooperation

Brazilian universities and research institutions with different levels of internationalisation work together around strategic themes and shared action plans.

02

Inclusive internationalisation

The programme connects institutions from different regions of Brazil and promotes reciprocal partnerships with organisations in both the Global North and the Global South.

03

Research with global relevance

The networks address challenges such as health, biodiversity, climate, energy, food security, education, digital transformation and sustainable development.

04

Institutional transformation

Beyond individual mobility, CAPES Global.edu strengthens internationalisation strategies, governance, professional capacity and a welcoming international culture.
